How it all started...

Quaker Furniture's roots began in 2012, in a small village in County Durham, just a few miles from Barnard Castle. My Dad would take his work to the local market in Barnard Castle, surprising people with how much furniture he could neatly fit into his car if he took the back seats out; my Dads car would be bursting with creations. As time moved on (over a decade), many people in the local community had bought furniture from the market and proudly placed it in their homes. Trading on the market allowed my Dad to do what he could to support his family, earning himself a reputation of a friendly man with great talent that sold furniture at an honest price. A very familiar face in Barnard Castle, my Dad was know as the "Furniture guy" or the "Bench man".

Through my Dads determination, love for his family and unwillingness to give up, Quaker Furniture now ships all over the UK, earning best seller status on ecommerce platforms such as Etsy with record breaking reviews.

Our Products

To make rustic style furniture you need to source reclaimed wood that is high quality and has all the natural characteristics of furniture found in a bygone, affluent farmhouse. In our opinion using new wood then distressing it to appear aged only looks contrived

Our furniture is designed to appear old and vintage, as if it has stood the test of time through the decades and aged beautifully. This is why we use carefully selected wood from a supplier that has known our family from the start. We want a selection of wood that contains natural age such as small splits, signs of previous use such as small indentations. We finish our Furniture with high quality wax or oil depending on the requirements of water proofing to seal and protect the wood. still to this day we get a great deal of pleasure and accomplishment when we apply the finish, with the character of the wood this is a really special process.

All of our furniture is made to order, making each piece is unique
